I feel bad for Mike Trout
Blow it up! Blow it up! Blow it up!
Man, do I feel bad for Mike Trout.
There’s nothing the guy can’t do, except anchor his rotation and lead the league in DRS from the game’s most valuable defensive spot.
It really does stink.
Here the Angels are; saddled with Pujols’ contract, a lack of talent, injuries to their top players and a poor farm system.
Even the best player in the sport can’t help.
And if we’re real about this we know what makes the most sense; shopping Trout.
I’m kinda doing this as a thought exercise, I like picturing top players in other uniforms, and kinda being serious. There’s no doubt that you could build a compelling case to move Trout across LA to the Dodgers for a package built around Julio Urias.
Most of all, because I don’t want to see sad Mike Trout.
Sam Miller of BP wrote a great piece about Trout’s greatness. In it, he looks at how Trout would have altered the trajectory of every single franchise who passed over him in the draft, except, the Angels, whose path has changed one iota despite the mind-blowing play of the best player in baseball.
*hot take klaxon*
They’re mistreating him, and we should get him outta there as quick as possible.
